Have you come to sing pumpkin carols?

"On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises from his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys to all the children."

Don't forget to watch!

I think the color combinations within each frame of Peanuts cartoon are all my favorite. The pinks and the oranges!

Halloween, witch magic!

With Halloween approaching I will need to break out my VHS copy of "Witch's Night Out"- my favorite Halloween special as a child. This is a hidden little gem, with very little info on the internet (I was trying to find a video clip.) All I could find were the stills and package covers.

The plot is as follows (thank you Wiki):
The plot involves a witch who accompanies two children named Small and Tender with their babysitter (Bazooey) to a Halloween party and transforms them into a werewolf, Frankenstein's monster, and a ghost (previously their Halloween costumes). The witch takes them to the Halloween party-in-progress at her house. Other citizens of the town get offended. They try to catch these supernatural beings as a mob. The children and Bazooey spend the night as real eerie creatures but decide they need to become human beings again. A disco song entitled "Witch Magic" was sung in this film.

Gilda Radner and Catherine O'Hara contributed voices, which makes it that much cooler.

the genius of Mogu Takahashi

I first found Mogu Takahashi while browsing through flickr. I was instantly in love.

Mogu lives and works in Tokyo. She often collages with cardboard and makes "friends" from socks and other sewn bits- they are GENIUS. There are so many details to find, I'm especially enamored with the little sign necklaces that some of her creations wear!

Looking at her work really makes me want to draw and paste and paper mache! I am overwhelmed by the rich personality and heart in everything she makes.

To check out more of her work visit her website:

She also has an Etsy shop:

Thanks Mogu!

Real Life Dollhouse

Came across this today.

Heather Benning's dollhouse. 60's furniture inside of an abandoned farmhouse in a Saskatchewan field, sided with plexi glass. So pretty.

2 Movies I Highly Recommend!

The first is Girls Rock! which is a documentary following the girls at rock camp in Portland, Oregon. All of the girls featured in the film are amazing; it is ridiculous what insights children have.

The second is A Man Named Pearl, a documentary following Pearl and his garden. Everyone seems to love Pearl and, after you watch this documentary, you will love Pearl too.

Something I love and want to share with you - The Point

If you haven't already seen The Point, which is an animated movie from the nineteen seventies, I suggest you make it A POINT (haha, heh heh) to watch it ASAP. It is one of my all-time favorite movies, definitely my favorite animation. The soundtrack is stellar. Here's a summarizing blip from Wikipedia:

The Point is a fable by American songwriter and musician Harry Nilsson about a boy named Oblio, the only round-headed person in The Pointed Village, where by law everyone and everything had to have a point.

Here's a snippet:

You will be so happy.

Art Therapy with Suzy Coady

The girls over at Damsel Blog were kind enough to interview me and feature me on their site. I was terribly 'bumbling' during the interview, but they finessed it enough to make my awkward self seem almost cool. Haha.

Here is a link to the interview:
Art Therapy: An interview with Suzy Coady

You all should add Damsel to your blog roster. Their writing is clear, intelligent and witty, covering all sorts of topics- awesome!
